Friday is the start of the celebrations of International Coffee Day and what better way to celebrate, than to make your loved ones some great coffee? I'm a bit of a coffee snob.

A few years ago I went to Kenya and the only thing I brought back were coffee beans.

My friends all thought I was being ridiculous when I shelled out close to R500 for coffee beans. But what they didn't know then, was that Kenya is famous for having some of the best coffee in the world, so of course I was going to purchase bags of beans.

It was only when we returned home and I made them the coffee, did they get why I spent so much money.

Even though I make a great cup of coffee, I just can't seem to get latte art right. I've tried many times, even asking baristas how to do it, but I keep failing.

It's not that I'm not artistically inclined, but more of a lack of patience situation. It is, after all, an art. I know so many baristas who practice all the time to make sure their technique is right, know how to do the latest designs and making sure they give their customers the best cup of coffee.

Thank goodness for the internet which is the gift that keeps giving. I'm currently trying my luck again at how to make latte art from this video. I've started already and I haven't yet had much luck. But since it's International Coffee Day, why not also give it a try?

If and when you succeed, tag me on Twitter( @Buhlebonga) so I don't feel like so much of a failure!
